A banned and drunk driver, who drove at a speed of up to 100mph before a horrifying crash that killed his best friend, has been put behind bars.
Uzaifa Ahmed, 26, drove on the wrong side of the road, overtook other vehicles in a dangerous manner and sped excessively after consuming vodka with his friend in the car on April 3, 2021.
Ahmed eventually lost control of the car, which belonged to his father, and collided with a tree on Garrison Lane, Birmingham, at a speed estimated at between 60-65mph, as reported by Birmingham Live.He was hurled from the vehicle while Hasan, aged 25, lay gravely wounded on the passenger seat.
Ahmed then informed someone at the scene that he 'needed to get out' and left before handing himself into the police some time later.
