The Great British Bake Off star Laura Adlington has shared how she is "the heaviest and happiest" she's been after embracing body positivity and confidence in herself.
Laura, 32, took part in the 2020 series of the Channel 4 contest and admitted she had been terrified of what the reaction from viewers would be to a plus-size woman on a food programme, but says she has now gained confidence from her experiences in the spotlight and is feeling better than ever.
She told Metro: "I am sitting here the heaviest and happiest I’ve ever been." Although Laura stormed through the competition and reached the final, where she and Dave Friday were runners up to Peter Sawkins, she had concerns over what some cruel viewers might say about her.
She said: "There were doubts, because I was worried about what the UK population would think of a plus-sized woman around food especially." Laura decided to cast her doubts aside because of her love of the show, but has been open about having been the victim of some nasty comments during her time on the show.
