Baby dies after being hit by giant hailstone the 'size of golfball' during storm in Spain

A baby has tragically died after being stuck by a large hailstone during a violent storm. The 20-month-old girl was with her parents when she was hit by the four-inch wide ball of ice in the Spanish town of La Bisbal d'Emporda on Tuesday.

She was rushed to hospital, but sadly passed away on Wednesday morning. The mayor of La Bisbal d'Emporda, Carme Vall, told Spanish National Television that more than 20 others were also treated for injuries caused by the storm.

She added that several cars and buildings were damaged by the downpour. Video footage obtained by Spanish media showing hailstones the size of golf balls bouncing off vehicles in the street.More storms were expected in the region on Wednesday.
