Ayrshire teacher is speed star as she bags iconic Loch Ness cycling course record

Ayrshire school teacher's got on her bike and set a new 'monster' course record for a gruelling 66-mile road race.The sportive cycling event around iconic Loch Ness was postponed three times from April 2020 due to the ongoing Covid pandemic.But Stewarton Academy's Catriona Lockie broke the female course record – completing it in 2 hours 54 minutes 59 seconds.She also picked up the Queen of the Mountain title, completing a 4.8 mile climb reaching 380 metres in 24m 39s.Over 4,000 cyclists signed up for the event this year – among them being her boyfriend, Andrew Tait, and her dad, Gordon.They didn't quite reach the heights of amateur cyclist Catriona, from East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, but it was her dad who inspired her to take up.
