Ayrshire drug dealer dies in custody at HMP Kilmarnock with FAI to be launched

An Ayrshire drug dealer has died while in custody at HMP Kilmarnock. William John Gibb, 55, from Ardrossan, had been serving a sentence for supplying drugs since December 2022 when he died in prison.

Police Scotland have been informed of the death and a report will be made to the Procurator Fiscal. A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held into Gibb’s death in due course.A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “Every death, whether in prison custody or in our communities, is a tragedy for all those who knew and supported the individual.“Following the death of someone in our care, Police Scotland are advised and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
