Christmas is a time for families coming together – although Covid has become an unfortunate barrier to this.However, it is also a time to remember those whose place at the dinner table sits empty on Christmas Day.One tradition comes from Ireland – the tree of remembrance where people can leave a message to their lost loved ones.And it was the success of such a tree in Cork, organised by the city's rotary club, that provided the inspiration to their colleagues in Ayrshire.This year, Ayr became home to what is believed to be the first Tree of Memories in Scotland.
You could add your message to the tree, along with a donation to charity, at the Fish Cross in Ayr High Street, up until Christmas Eve.
