Ayo Edebiri's New A24 Horror Film 'Opus' Premieres at Sundance to Mixed Reviews

Ayo Edebiri is starring in the new A24 horror film Opus alongside John Malkovich and the film opened at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival to mixed reviews.

The actors hit the red carpet at the premiere event on Monday night (January 27) at the Eccles Center Theatre in Park City, Utah. Ayo and John were joined by co-stars Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Stephanie Suganami, and Tatanka Means, as well as writer and director Mark Anthony Green.

Here is the synopsis: “A young writer (Edebiri) is invited to the remote compound of a legendary pop star (Malkovich) who mysteriously disappeared thirty years ago.

Surrounded by the star’s cult of sycophants and intoxicated journalists, she finds herself in the middle of his twisted plan.” Opus currently has a 33% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
