Frank Lampard spent big in the summer but his Chelsea side are worse off now than they were 12 months ago. The Blues were poor as they went down 3-1 against Arsenal to lose more ground at the top of the table.
It was their third reverse in four Premier League games following recent losses at Everton and Wolves. And it means, despite spending £222m in the summer, that they have four points less than they had at this point last term.
In Lampard's first season Chelsea enjoyed a good early run that saw them win six on the bounce and eight of their first 12. This season, as the Blues boss seeks to find the winning formula, they have been more inconsistent and registered 25 points.
