'Awful' smelling dog dumped near lay-by so traumatised it won't let anyone near

A German Shepherd found abandoned and tied to a post was so traumatised humans could not get near it. The poor pooch was dumped near a lay-by on the A515.

Rescuers found the canine covered in matted fur, filthy and smelling "awful". The blonde dog was so traumatised by the abandonment that it wouldn’t let anyone close, Derbyshire Live reports.

Rescuers still aren’t sure whether the four legged friend found in Derbyshire is a boy or a girl because they have had to keep their distance.

Dog carers think the only way it will get groomed is if it is sedated first. It was hidden out of sight and only found when a farmer heard it barking desperately on Tuesday.
