Found footage filmmaking is now one of the pillars of the horror genre. This Halloween season, Joseph and Vanessa Winter are a filmmaking duo with not one, but two brand-new found footage horror films arriving on screens, with their directorial debut, “Deadstream,” and a segment in the recent anthology, “V/H/S/99.” And in this episode of The Playlist Podcast, I got the chance to speak with the directors about the literal blood, sweat, and tears that went into bringing these projects to life.

A new Avengers Campus attraction is heading to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., allowing parkgoers to journey through the MCU’s many, many universes. The news was announced on Sunday at the D23 Expo’s Parks panel, which featured parks chairman Josh D’Amaro and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. According to D’Amaro, the ride — which does not have an official opening date — will see parkgoers team up with the Avengers from multiple universes to defeat “King Thanos,” a version of the character that won at the end of the 2019 film “Avengers: Endgame.” D’Amaro also unveiled new concept art of the ride showcasing the King Thanos design and several of the heroes that will be featured in the ride, which can be viewed below.

Disney’s movie and television studios including Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Walt Disney Studios, Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, 20th Century Studios and Disney Branded Television revealed plenty of news at the D23 Expo, which ran September 9-11 at the Disneyland-adjacent Anaheim Convention Center.

While they didn’t unveil the entire cast of “The Fantastic Four,” or whatever it is fans are griping about at the moment, Marvel Studios did reign over Disney’s D23 Expo much as they did at San Diego Comic-Con, earlier this summer, basically owning the entire affair yet again. And let’s face it, there were plenty of announcements.

The trailer was introduced by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige on Saturday at the D23 Expo.The “Echo” footage, which was exclusive to those in the room at D23, included subtitles, shots of Native people and tons of Echo (Cox) kicking ass. At the very end of the first-look video, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin returns and is wearing an eyepatch. The show is a spinoff of last year’s Marvel series “Hawkeye,” which featured Cox as Echo, aka Maya Lopez, in a supporting role. Created by David Mack and Joe Quesada in 1999 as a supporting character for the superhero Daredevil, Maya Lopez is a deaf Cheyenne woman with expert athletic skills and the ability to perfectly copy people’s movement. In “Hawkeye,” the character was depicted as a leader in the Tracksuit Mafia, a gang of criminals working under Kingpin. The show sees Lopez leave New York for her hometown, where she reconnects with her roots and ends up at the center of a new crisis.
