Author shares his story battling mental health issues and addiction

A West Lothian author who shared his experiences around mental health, drug addiction, trauma and social deprivation has been hailed as “brave” by those who listened to him.Aidan Martin was taking part in the special event at Armadale Library.Aidan’s compelling journey from addiction into recovery, activism and the creative industries was the focus for the event, with his book ‘Euphoric Recall’ detailing his lived experience.The speaker and activist was also joined by local musician Martin Livingstone, who performed some of his original songs.Martin also shared how his past experience of how engaging with West Lothian Youth Action Project encouraged his passion for music, which ultimately helped him to pursue his musical career.Both Aidan and Martin’s sets were extremely well received by all who attended, including local residents, organisations and charities and sparked lots of conversations about local communities, people and stories.Feedback from those who attended was very positive and included: “Aidan’s honesty and open presentation was good to hear.
