The aunt of a TV journalist who was found dead is seeking a judicial review after claiming GMP mishandled an investigation into allegations she was a victim of domestic abuse.

As reported in the Manchester Evening News, in July this year, GMP refused a request by Lorna McMahon for a criminal investigation into the death of her niece, Teresa McMahon.

43, who worked for Granada Reports. She was found unresponsive at her flat in Salford in the summer of 2021. In a second pre-inquest review at Bolton Coroner's Court, in August last year, senior coroner for Manchester West, Timothy Brennand, heard how it was established that reports had been made to police into concerns over abuse before Teresa's death.

The reports were from friends, colleagues and family members. But the court heard an investigation by Greater Manchester Police had ruled out any criminal activity.
