Officers were called to Woodland Road at 10.20pm on Sunday night (August 8) to reports that a man had been seriously injured.

A 63-year-old man was hit by a Citreon C5, Greater Manchester Police said. Read more: Young man dies in horror crash involving motorbike and car The victim sustained 'serious injuries' and was taken to hospital where he remains for ongoing treatment.

Police confirmed the car used in the shocking incident has since been recovered by officers. Two men - aged 28 and 25- have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
