Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were among a group of people who wrote letters of support to the court on behalf of Danny Masterson before his sentencing this week.
The 47-year-old That ’70s Show actor was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Thursday (September 7). He was convicted on two counts of forcible rape earlier this year.
However, a new report by Good Morning America revealed that his former co-stars opened up about his character in letters submitted to the judge. Others who wrote in support of Danny included fellow That ’70s Show co-stars Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp. Danny‘s family (including brother-in-law William Baldwin) and wife Bijou Phillips also wrote to the judge. “As a friend, Danny has been nothing but a positive influence on me,” Ashton wrote in his letter. “He’s taught me about being direct and confronting issues in life and relationships head-on, resolving them, and moving forward.” Elsewhere, he referred to him as “a role model” and an “excellent one” at that. Mila called Danny a “dear friend.” She wrote about the “remarkable influence” he had on her life. “I first met Danny during our time working together on That 70′s Show, and from the very beginning, I could sense his innate goodness and genuine nature.
