Ashnikko drops new track “WEEDKILLER”

Back in February, Ashnikko shared the blistering “You Make Me Sick!,” their first new song since 2021. Then, last month, they announced a new album called WEEDKILLER, along with unveiling tour dates and the record’s second offering, “Worms.” And today, they’ve returned with the project’s title track.

Where “Worms” ventured into surprisingly sunny pop territory, “WEEDKILLER” goes back to the punishing, post-industrial sounds of “You Make Me Sick!,” albeit with a less relentless rhythm section. “Always knew it would come to this / I would be the one to eliminate you,” Ashnikko sings triumphantly in the chorus before they second vocal line arrives to chant the track’s titular refrain: “Weedkiller / Runnin’ with scissors.” In the verses, their voice regularly rises to a shriek, justifying lyrics that could feel campy if delivered straight.
