Ashley Judd has shared images showing the extent of her horrific injuries following a fall in February - and they're certainly not for the faint hearted.

The Hollywood actress, 53, suffered a fall after tripping over a fallen tree in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and embarked on a 55-hour journey to a hospital.

She had been in the rainforest researching a unique species of ape which is indigenous to the country called the bonobos. And now, after admitting she could have lost her leg in the accident, she has shared snaps of her scars as she continues her intensive path to recovery.

The Double Jeopardy star took to Instagram to update her fans on her condition. Alongside the images she wrote: "I am getting back up.
