Asda unveils Sid the Sausage Dog cake to rival Colin the Caterpillar

Colin the Caterpillar is a celebration favourite who's been to more parties than every notorious rock band combined. Having firmly established himself as a popular birthday guest, adaptable Colin now comes in versions for Christmas, weddings and even a somewhat frightening Easter bunny outfit.

But Marks & Spencer's chocolate sponge roll cake with a delicious coat and endearing smile has a new rival on the block hoping to steal the crown of top dog.

Asda has unveiled Sid the Sausage Dog, and he's not to be taken lightly, measuring in at a foot and a half in length which is big enough for 24 people to grab a slice.

Sid boasts many of the same attributes to Colin, made of soft chocolate sponge stuffed with chocolate buttercream and a milk
