Asda shopper was overwhelmed by the kindness of a stranger who stepped in to pay her shopping when she forgot her purse. Shirley Harrington was helped by a young man when she was caught short at the tills on Wednesday May 5 having left her purse at home.

Our sister title The Manchester Evening News report how the customer, at the store in Bury, had £35-worth of shopping in her trolley and began asking an assistant if she could leave the cart at the customer service desk in order to make the five-minute car journey home and return to pay for the goods.
