Asda issues message to millions of motorists over the cost of fuel

Asda has issued a hopeful message to motorists over future fuel prices. It comes after Asda Group acquired EG Group's UK business for more than £2 billion.

A key part of the deal is that Asda will now be able to roll out Asda Express locations across 356 sites previously held by EG UK which includes petrol filling stations.

In total, Asda now holds 478 convenience stores from the EG and previous Co-op acquisitions and the three Asda Express stores that were already open.

It is also pledging to open 300 more convenience stores by the end of 2026 in addition to its existing 580 supermarkets, 31 Asda Living stores, and 321 petrol filling stations.
