As he was driven towards his death, Christopher Hughes pleaded for his life. A gang of vigilantes had spent the last 24 hours hunting him down.
They eventually found him on a Wigan housing estate, and bundled him into the boot of an Audi in broad daylight. The young dad was then taken to an isolated country road, where his kidnappers stabbed him 90 times in a vicious and sadistic attack.
Christopher died a lonely death. His mutilated body was dumped and left exposed to snow and rain before it was found by a dogwalker four days later.
The brutal murder is the subject of a new documentary due to air on Channel 4 this evening (Tuesday). Manhunt, which is a three-part series, follows officers from Greater Manchester Police's Serious Crime and Specialist Operations teams as they investigate two murders and a piece of intelligence.
