Nathan Wyburn makes art using all different kinds of objects, and he honored the People’s Princess with a touching portrait created out of candles.
In the video, you can see the candles set up as Princess Diana’s face as the artist lights each candle one by one, slowly illuminating the portrait of the iconic figure, who died on Aug.
31, 1997, in a Paris car crash at just 36 years old.At the end, he blows all the candles out until the video goes dark. “Your candle burned out long before, your legend ever will,” Wyburn tweeted in his caption — a callback to Elton John’s “Candle in the Wind,” which plays in the background.
John’s performance was from Princess Diana’s funeral at Westminster Abbey on Sept. 6, 1997; as a close friend to the princess, he reworked the song to play a special, sentimental version at the funeral.
