Gabriel Martinelli has given Arsenal a major injury scare after his side beat Brentford on Saturday. Following a second-half substitution against Sheffield United on Monday, Martinelli was spotted wearing a protective boot and using crutches at the Emirates Stadium.
Leandro Trossard replaced him in the starting line-up, while Kai Havertz clinched victory for Arsenal against Brentford late on to send Arsenal top.
City can move to the summit themselves with a win over Liverpool on Sunday. For Arsenal this is an enormous blow in the race for the title and it comes ahead of two key fixtures.
Mikel Arteta's side take on Porto in the Champions League aiming to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit on Tuesday. After the international break they then travel to the Etihad Stadium for a title showdown.
