A man has been arrested after armed police locked down a busy street in Inverness.Officers from Police Scotland raced to Madras Street in the city centre following reports of a 'disturbance' at around 3pm on Thursday, April 18.
Pictures shared with the Record showed police with guns at the scene after the road was cordoned off.Several police vehicles were at the scene as well as fire and ambulance crews.
It's understood Madras Street and surrounding rounds were closed off for several hours.A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He was due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Friday, April 19.Locals were left shocked as emergency services descended onto the scene.One person said: "There was a large police presence and fire appliances around Grant Street and Madras Street.
