Armed cops in six hour Christmas Day standoff at Scots house after ‘disturbance’

A man has been arrested after armed police were called to reports of a ‘disturbance’ at a property in Fife on Christmas morning which resulted in a six hour standoff.Uniformed officers locked down Memorial Road in Methil shortly after 9am on December 25 after the alarm was raised.A video from the scene shows two armed police attempting to enter a property in the street while a third officer, who was also carrying a gun, stood guard.The incident, which left neighbours concerned, lasted more than six hours before a 47-year-old was peacefully arrested.Police Scotland have confirmed that he has now been charged and is due to appear at court at a later date.

No injuries were reported.A statement from the force said: “Around 9.10am on Sunday, 25 December, 2022, police were called to a report of a disturbance and concern for a man at a property on Memorial Road, Methil.“Officers attended and, around 3.50pm, a 47-year-old man was peacefully arrested.
