Arlo Parks cancels shows amid exhaustion and struggling mental health: ‘I am broken’

Arlo Parks has revealed she’s cancelling several shows on her tour after reaching a ‘very dark place’, explaining how ‘exhausting and dangerously low’ she’s become.In a statement shared on social media, the singer – born Anaïs Oluwatoyin Estelle Marinho – explained that she’d been ‘working herself to the bone’ for the past year and a half, following on from artists including Sam Fender and Justin Bieber who’ve also recently put live shows on pause.‘I’ve been on the road on and off for the last 18 months, filling every spare second in between and working myself to the bone.

It was exciting and I was eager to grind and show everyone what I was capable of, how grateful I was to be where I am today,’ she said.‘The people around me started to get worried but I was anxious to deliver and afraid to disappoint my fans and myself.’The 22-year-old, who released her debut studio album, Collapsed in Sunbeams, last year, outlined how she ‘pushed myself unhealthily, further and harder than I should’ve’.‘I find myself now in a very dark place, exhausted and dangerously low – it’s painful to admit that my mental health has deteriorated to a debilitating place, that I’m not okay, that I’m a human being with limits,’ she shared.pic.twitter.com/4MKWB3LdQyDue to this realisation, Arlo has decided to cancel her upcoming shows taking place from Boston to Salt Lake City in the US, which were due to take place up until Saturday September 24.She’ll then recommence her tour in Portland, beginning from Monday September 26.‘I don’t take decisions like this lightly but I am broken and I really need to step out, go home and take care of myself,’ Arlo added.‘I will do everything I can to make this up to you – for now you can get refunds at your point.
