Ariana Grande is speaking out again in response to people criticizing her voice and how she sometimes sounds different.

The 31-year-old singer and actress, who just got an Oscar nominated for playing Glinda in the Wicked movie, acknowledges that she’ll sometimes speak in a higher-pitched tone and explained there’s a reason behind the change. But that is just something that’s healthy for the voice. It’s just basically pitching your voice up a tiny bit,” she added. “It’s just a normal thing for vocalists.

But people are like, ‘That’s not her natural voice.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, it is actually, but it’s just a little higher. All of it is natural.’” This isn’t the first time that Ariana has talked about the subject and she knows that people are continuing to make negative comments.
