A number of major retailers have confirmed they are closing stores by the end of this month in the latest blow for the UK high street.
Argos, B&M, Clintons and Iceland have confirmed a number of their shops will close indefinitely. The Mirror reports that Marks and Spencer, Homesense and and M&Co will also shutter sites for good in the coming weeks.
Among the stores closing their doors across the UK are several shops in Scotland.The high street has struggled over the last few years with more people choosing to shop online.
In the last year, their troubles have worsened with inflation and energy bills pushing up costs for businesses, and leaving customers with less money to spend.About 47 shops on average pulled down their shutters for the final time every day last year, according to analysis from the Centre for Retail Research (CRR).
