Brits are gearing up for a deep freeze as a chilling new weather map shows an ominous purple patch, hinting at temperatures plummeting to a bone-chilling -13C.The latest WX Charts map for the week ahead mostly shows the UK in cool greens, indicating temps between zero and 5C, but a threatening purple area is creeping towards the northwest, suggesting even colder times are on the horizon.

After enduring a "significant period of cold" and the havoc wreaked by Storm Bert, which claimed five lives amid floods and relentless rain, it looks like there's no break just yet.

According to WXCharts, using MetDesk data, December 4 could see the temperature take a dive, while other forecasts have hinted that the mercury will drop sharply after December 6, particularly in Wales, northern England, and Scotland.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Neil Armstrong cautions: "With cold Arctic air firmly in place over the UK, continued winter hazards are likely through much of this week, with further updates to warnings likely in the coming days", as reported by the Mirror.
