A pair of Arbroath FC fans have braved freezing temperatures to spread football cheer. Devoted Lichties, Andy and Sandra Furye, were photographed decked out in their team’s maroon and white colours in -26°C Lapland.

They were told the epic conditions were identical to “an evening game at Gayfield in February”. The couple were 1760 miles from the stadium, where their team have been tearing up trees this season.The club currently sit top of the Scottish Championship, three points clear of their nearest rivals, Inverness.The photos got a great reception from fellow fans when they turned up on the Arbroath FC Facebook page earlier this week.Andy and Sandra’s caption said: “Last day in Lapland, had to take some pictures at the Sweden / Finland border, Andy & Sandra , Gayfield is 1760 miles from here.“Was -26°C yesterday but it’s roasting today -18°C thankfully.”In response, the Facebook page admin told them: “Those cold temperatures will put you in perfect condition for an evening game at Gayfield in February!“Safe travels!
