Mark Zuckerberg delivered a resoundingly negative review of Apple’s Vision Pro, saying after he “finally tried” the headset that he found it inferior to his pride and joy, Meta‘s Quest 3.

Apple’s device went on sale this month and at $3,500, it is several times the price of the Quest 3. Even at a much lower price point, per the Facebook founder, Quest weighs less, has no wires, delivers crisper video and is on balance “better for the vast majority of things that people use mixed reality for.” Zuckerberg offered his impressions in a video posted to Instagram, adding a jab at Apple “fanboys.” (Watch it below.) “I have to say that before this, I expected that Quest would be the better value for most people since it’s really good and like seven times less expensive, but after using it, I don’t just think that Quest is the better value, it’s the better product period,” Zuckerberg said.

When the Vision Pro was unveiled last year and went on to create the biggest commotion over any new Apple product launch since the Watch, everyone “assumed” it would be the category leader, Zuckerberg said. “I know that some fanboys get upset whenever anyone dares to question if Apple’s going to be the leader in a new category,” he added. “But the reality is that every generation of computing has an open and a closed model.

And yeah, in mobile, Apple’s closed model won, but it’s not always that way.” As far as sales, there is no competition as of yet.
