Apple, a U.S.-based company, is expected to continue to gradually roll out the new name for users around the globe. Apple’s name change of the Gulf of Mexico follows Google and Donald Trump‘s executive order mandating the switch.

Google addressed the name change in a post on X, the microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter. “We’ve received a few questions about naming within Google Maps.

We have a longstanding practice of applying name changes when they have been updated in official government sources,” Google posted.
