Antiques Roadshow guest taken aback over 'unexpected' value of rare watercolour painting

One Antiques Roadshow visitor was left stunned over an unexpected valuation, when she brought along a watercolour painting. The piece of art was revealed to have been created by Thomas Cooper Gotch, something expert Rupert Maas was very pleased about.

He revealed he did not recall one of his paintings being brought on the show ever before, and couldn't wait to value it. Calling the item rare, he asked how the guest managed to get her hands on it.

The lady explained that her mother worked in a children's hospital when she was young, and that it was converted from a privately owned hospital to one under the NHS.

The matron at the time told all staff to take an item each as the changeover was made, and "not wanting to be greedy" the guest's
