A collector on Sunday night's Antiques Roadshow revealed the tragic story behind her valuable stash of football memorabilia.
The weekend's episode of the popular BBC show was filmed in Newby Hall as host Fiona Bruce and the team valued the public's treasured tokens.
Viewers watched as a guest asked for a valuation on a selection of items which belonged to her great grandfather, Ned Liddle.
Her family member has played for the likes of Southampton and Arsenal over 100 years ago, but was born in the North East. The lady said: "He was born in Sunderland in 1878 and he played for Sunderland where he started off. "Then he moved to Southampton, Clapton Orient, Southend and then finally Arsenal.
