In an extraordinary twist on Antiques Road Trip, host Paul Laidlaw made history when a rare find netted an astonishing £20,000 at auction. The savvy antiques guru bagged the uncommon camera for a mere £60 during his rummage in a Margate, Kent antique shop brimming with collectables.
Recounting the eclectic mix available in store, the owner remarked: "Three floors, the upstairs is mainly furniture but there's stuff everywhere.
And on this floor, there are four rooms through and in the middle, there's a staircase which goes down to a room full of chairs and another room full below! ".
Having scoured through the treasure trove during the 2021 episode, Paul was eager to haggle over the camera he'd unearthed, asking: "In your cabinet over there, optical instrument... £75 on that I bid you £50." Following a firm handshake, the dealer agreed on £60.
