Anne Heche’s son Homer shares tribute to mum: ‘I’m left with a wordless sadness’

Anne Heche's eldest son Homer has paid tribute to his mother after she was declared brain dead on Friday, a week after she crashed her car into a Los Angeles home whilst reportedly under the influence of cocaine.

The 53-year-old actress was taken to hospital and placed in a come following the incident, where her car was "engulfed in flames" and her representatives confirmed on Friday that she had died after succumbing to her injuries.

Anne leaves behind two sons, Homer Laffoon, 20, and Atlas Tupper, 13, and her eldest son Homer has paid tribute to his late mother in a statement to People, saying: "My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom. "After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. "Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom." He then thanked well-wishers for their support, as he said: "Over those six days, thousands of friends, family, and fans made their hearts known to me," "I am grateful for their love, as I am for the support of my Dad, Coley, and my stepmom Alexi who continue to be my rock during this time." He ended his statement on a poignant note, saying: "Rest In Peace Mom, I love you." Emmy-winner Anne's death was confirmed by her representatives on Friday, who said: "Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend," a rep for the actress said on behalf of Heche's family and friends. "Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy," the statement continued.
