Police were called to a street in Johnstone after an angry mob gathered at a property in a protest against an alleged paedophile.
The mob were heard chanting 'beast' outside a house in the Renfrewshire town, at around 5.30pm on Monday night before police intervened.
In footage taken at the scene, furious crowds can be heard screaming 'no beasts are welcome'. Six officers arrive at the street, with two cops going inside a property, and a third officer standing guard at the door.Moments later, two policemen then exit the house with two hooded men, who are lead into an awaiting police van.
Jeers and screams can be heard from the crowd. Applause breaks out amongst locals who shout 'get him out' and 'leave vulnerable people alone' as the men are ushered away.No arrests were made and the Record understands the men, who requested assistance from officers to leave the address, have now left the area.It is understood the large group dispersed afterwards.
