A fundraiser set up for a man who pelted objects at police officers during a riot in Bristol has sparked anger. Dominic Capaldi was locked up for 34 months on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to violent disorder in Bristol on August 3. A court heard how the dad was captured on police bodycam footage throwing objects towards officers in the city’s Castle Park, including while crowds chanted 'send them back'.

The ground worker was also seen throwing objects at police who were trying to prevent protesters gaining entry to the Mercure Hotel, which is used to house asylum seekers.
