More than 50 people were spotted playing a huge game of football in a field in Ardwick despite the lockdown rules in place. Photos of the incident were taken on Monday evening and showed a large group gathered on the pitch, near the Eccles cake factory on Devonshire Street.
One member of the public, who didn't want to be named, said he counted '53' people on the field. He said he had seen crowds regularly gather there for a kickabout.
He said the sight was a 'daily event' and that he wanted to share pictures of the group to show the 'idiocy' of them. The eyewitness said that it was unfair as he was unable to see his own children under the current social distancing rules, while people continued to flout the guidelines.
