Set to tug at our heartstrings in 2025, Angelina Jolie's latest cinematic venture portrays the life of famed opera singer Maria Callas during her last days.The film sees Maria withdrawing to Paris in the '70s after a life spent in the limelight, and Angelina, at 49, felt a deep connection with the role. "I think the way in which I related to her might be a surprise," she shared with international journalists about her new movie, 'Maria', which has just premiered. "It's probably the part of her that's extremely soft.
She doesn't have room in the world to be as soft as she truly was and as emotionally open as she truly was. I think I share her vulnerability more than anything." Stepping into Maria's shoes wasn't without its hurdles, particularly mastering the art of opera singing.
Yet, the star, renowned for her performances in Disney's 'Maleficent', 'Tomb Raider', and Marvel's 'Eternals', threw herself into the challenge wholeheartedly. "Everybody knows I was terribly nervous," Angelina confessed, revealing that she underwent seven months of vocal training before daring to perform opera for an audience.
