Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

Martin O'Neill after the Treble-winning manager criticised "basement dweller" pundits. O'Neill made the comments during the BBC's coverage of the Scottish Cup Final between Neil Lennon 's Hoops and Hearts on Sunday, which was won by Kristoffer Ajer 's crucial winning penalty in the shootout after a 3-3 draw by the end of extra-time.

As a coach he took Celtic to the UEFA Cup final in 2003 with current gaffer Lennon a key component of that side - and in his defence of his former player's position in charge at Parkhead, he lashed out at critical ex-pros in the media.

Walker clearly took issue with that comment as he said the staunch defence of Lennon, who has brought some fans back onside despite fierce protests by completing the quadruple.
