Andy Halliday has dismissed the theory that Hearts lie down to Rangers. The Jambos' Hampden hoodoo against the Light Blues continued at the weekend, with a 2-0 win for Philippe Clement's team extending the Tynecastle club's run of having NEVER beaten the Gers at the national stadium.
The consensus before the game was that an upset could be on the cards given the Ibrox outfit's patchy league form in recent weeks, with Hearts motoring to third place. But Steven Naismith's side struggled from the off, and a Cyriel Dessers double ensured Rangers will face Celtic in the Cup Final on Saturday May 25.
There have been suggestions from those punters of a Celtic persuasion that Hearts perhaps don't try as hard against the Hoops' bitter rivals given their poor record against them.
Halliday was having none of that, but did reveal what really surprised him about his parent club's semi-final showing."I was surprised by their start to the game, but I've said it before, early goals can ruin game plans," he told Clyde Super Scoreboard. "I don't think Hearts settled into the game well."I don't buy into this teams lying down for other teams and whatnot.
