Mayor Andy Burnham has called for an 'urgent meeting' as residents in and around Bury have been left to endure a 'sickening' landfill stench.
Locals living near the Pilsworth South Landfill site, situated next to the M66 between Bury and Heywood, have described the smells emanating from the site as 'awful' and like 'sticking your head in a bag of rotten meat'.
The stench has also hit residents in Darnhill, Summit, Heady Hill, and Heap Bridge in Rochdale, who have also been vocal about the 'horrendous' smell, with some even reporting feeling physically sick. and why he's staying away from Man City The scale of the issue also prompted a petition to be started online, that attracted over 3,000 signatures, calling for an investigation into the matter.
