Mayor Andy Burnham has blasted Avanti West Coast following the decision to suspend ticket sales and reduce Manchester to London trains to just one an hour.
It comes as it has limited its timetable due to an “unofficial strike”. The train operator confirmed this week that it will run as few as four trains per hour from Sunday.
On Tuesday morning (August 9), Mr Burnham tweeted stating there has been ‘zero consultation’ and blasted the ‘dissembling explanation’.
He added that it was ‘nothing short of a disgrace’ from the train operator, and said he will be writing to Transport Secretary Grant Shapps about the situation.
