She might still be recovering from major surgery, but Amy Schumer is on a mission to empower women and change their thinking about ‘being weak’.
The comedian, 40, had her uterus and appendix removed last weekend after battling endometriosis for years. Now resting up at home, Amy has told her female fans that ‘we need to not confuse advocating for ourselves with being b****y.’ Amy also admitted how ‘incredible’ it’s been to be told by a doctor that her painful periods are not normal and said it was a ‘miracle’ that she was able to have her son, Gene.
Speaking on Instagram, Amy said: ‘I learned today that your periods shouldn’t be painful, and not everyone’s are… from the time I got my first period I was knocked over vomiting from the pain. ‘
