Amber Heard and Johnny Depp‘s defamation lawsuit is underway. The former couple’s lawyers made their opening statements on Tuesday (April 12) in Fairfax, Virginia, painting very different pictures of their troubled marriage. Click inside to read more… Johnny sued Amber in 2019 over an op-ed published in the Washington Post, in which she alluded to allegations she had made against him in the past and said she had become “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” Johnny responded with a $50 million dollar claim, though Amber did not name Johnny in the piece or detail any of the alleged abuse.

She subsequently filed a $100 million counterclaim. According to Rolling Stone, Amber‘s legal team claimed in their opening statements that the Pirates of the Caribbean star “sexually assaulted” the actress towards the end of their relationship, an allegation that had never been made publicly before.

Her attorneys described “a three-day blackout in which he abused and sexually assaulted Amber.” They added, “You will hear in the most graphic and horrifying terms about the [sexual] violence that she suffered.

You’ll hear that straight from her.” However, Johnny‘s lawyers alleged that Amber was a “a profoundly troubled person” who, despite claiming to be a victim, was a perpetrator of domestic violence.
