Love Island winner turned musical theatre actress Amber Davies, 27, is taking a break from the West End to compete on Dancing on Ice, and admits that she turned to her ex-boyfriend Kem Cetinay for advice as he did the show in 2018. “I text him a couple of times.

He just said, ‘It’s all about confidence,’” says Amber, who broke up with Kem shortly after they won Love Island in 2017. “I over complicate things in my mind and I’m a control freak.

Kem said, ‘You just need to relax.’” Hosted by Holly Willoughby and new presenter Stephen Mulhern, Dancing on Ice will see Amber return to TV for the first time in three years. “I haven’t been on telly for so many years, I thought that ship had sailed,” Amber reveals. “I don’t feel like opportunities like this come around often to learn a brand new skill.” Amber’s new boyfriend, musical star Ben Joyce, will be cheering her on from the sidelines, along with her family. “He’s my number one fan,” she smiles. “He’s amazing.

My mum will want to come but will want to watch through her hands!” There are a few of Amber’s family that are apprehensive about her stepping onto the rink. “My mum nearly had a heart attack because obviously when you sign up to a skating show there is danger involved,” explains Amber. “And with me being on stage every day, I think there were just alarm bells in her head like, “Oh my God, this could go terribly wrong.” But if you have that narrative throughout life, you’ll never do anything.” Since leaving Love Island in 2017, Amber has become a West End actress in 9 to 5, Bring It On, Back to the Future and currently Pretty Woman - which Amber has pulled out of for the ITV show.
