Amazon MGM Studios Hires Disney Alum Alexandra Weinberger as Head of YA and Comedy Series

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer Disney vet Alexandra Weinberger has joined Amazon MGM Studios in the newly created role of chief of YA and comedy ongoing series.

Three years ago, Amazon MGM Studios (then just Amazon Studios) organized its leadership team to focus on three areas: development, series, and IP and talent management.

In her new position, Weinberger will head up a team that will take oversight of some of Amazon MGM Studios’ first-season YA and comedy shows — at Prime Video, the list of applicable upcoming titles includes “Cruel Intentions,” “We Were Liars,” “Motorheads,” “Off Campus,” “Every Year After,” “Overcompensating” and more — as they enter into their second seasons.

As head of YA and comedy series, Weinberger will report directly to Amazon MGM Studios head of co-prod television and ongoing series Laura Lancaster.
