Despite the allure, the crackdown on such activities is intensifying, with authorities recently confirming raids across the UK.

While the main focus is on the suppliers of illegal services, consumers can also be at risk. And if you thought using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) would keep you safe, you might want to think again.

Not all VPNs offer the same level of protection, and some may readily reveal your streaming habits. This was highlighted by expert James Bore, who recently debunked the myth about VPNs and their safety. "Some VPNs claim not to keep logs, which makes it harder to trace you," Bore explained in an interview with Mirror Online. "Others genuinely don't keep logs.
