Amanda Holden has said that if Hugh Grant was cast for The Greatest Showman instead of Hugh Jackman, the movie would've been "ruined".Quizzing a listener on Heart Radio this morning, Amanda and her co-star Jason King, aka JK, asked which famous Hugh is the main star of the smash hit film.Reading out the options for the answer, JK listed; Hugh Jackman, Hugh Grant and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.After the listener answered correctly, Amanda's co-host said he would've liked to see Hugh Grant in the movie, which ruffled a few feathers.
In a swipe at the actor, she replied, laughing: "No, that would've ruined it for me," before adding: "You say this to deliberately wind me up."Amanda's response doesn't come as a surprise, given her well known love for the 2017 movie.
A year after its release, she sang her own version of the film's song Tightrope in a family video dedicated to her husband Chris Hughes.
During Britain's Got Talent in 2022, she pressed her golden buzzer for The Greatest Showman singer Loren Allred, who famously sang Never Enough in the film.Addressing her decision on Heart at the time, she said: “I am a massive fan of the Greatest Showman, she belted out Never Enough which is my all time favourite song.“Lauren was the voice behind the song, we don’t know her over here, she kept getting better and better.“I thought I had to press my golden buzzer before Alesha (Dixon).
