A teenager could have killed a man after a takeaway row escalated into a brutal attack - but he has been spared jail. Rio Acomb, 19, punched a man in the face as he argued with him after a night out in Warrington town centre on April 1, 2023.
The victim was knocked unconscious as he fell over and hit his head on the ground, before he had to be put in an induced coma, the Liverpool Echo reports.
The victim woke up around 10 hours later, the court heard, but only had a 'swelling to the back of the head'. Acomb, of Pasture Lane in Padgate, Warrington, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.
Gerard Baxter, prosecuting at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, said: "[The victim] went into Warrington with his friends and they visited various nightclubs in the course of the evening and early morning.
